Talks and Workshops
Elizabeth at the 2009 RNA Conference
Elizabeth enjoys teaching Creative Writing and has given numerous workshops and talks at writers' groups and conferences. In 2008, her workshops included the Writers' Holiday in both Fishguard and Caerleon (she has been invited back in 2010); and her latest talk was to the Romantic Novelists' Association Conference in Penrith in 2009.
She once waved a pair of 19th century open crotch drawers at a group of sixth formers - guaranteed to grab their interest in historical research! She has run two back-to-back workshops on Creating Believable Characters (it was over-subscribed) at a Historical Novel Society Conference, and talked on How I Became an Historical Novelist, with extracts from her childhood novels.

From Gerry Hobbs of gerry@writersholiday.net We cannot praise you too highly - and will never forget how you saved us at very short notice, delivered - and went down so well. All the students who were on your course (and those who spoke to you who weren't) thought you delivered everything they asked for and more.
From RNA Conference, Penrith, 2009; Leanne Bibby wrote: Historical romantic novelist Elizabeth Hawksley's audience were assured we would be entertained with tales of her early life and snippets of her very early work - and she absolutely delivered. This fascinating and often hilarious session covered the experiences and inspirations behind her childhood and teenage writing, encouraging any writer present who has ever looked at their own juvenilia and cringed.
