Highland Summer

Highland Summer book cover

I know it sounds pathetic, but I don’t really know what’s going on in men’s minds. Yes, of course I like Mr Mountsorrel. I think he enjoyed talking to me, but who else was there for him to talk to?

In 1865, Robina Drummond is invited by the Penicuiks to stay in the Scottish Highlands. Nearby, the Invershiels are expecting the eligible Edward Mountsorrel – a man Beatrix Penicuik wants for her pretty daughter. Robina is a sprat to catch a mackerel, for she is on the Invershiels’ visiting list – and the Penicuiks are not. Love, however, can be unpredictable.

Unbeknownst to all, Duncan Penicuik once had a secret liaison, which, if discovered, could ruin his family …

Robina’s summer could have some dangerous surprises in store.

‘It is a pleasant change to read about a heroine who seems so buoyant, and also so refreshingly real. Neither of the heroes behave like the domineering alpha males so beloved of romantic fiction, and the way all the plot strands come ever closer is both suspenseful and satisfying.’
